If We Were a Bible Character – Epaphras
If we were a Bible character; our life, men had read.
From the pages of Scripture, just what would be said?
If God were writing our profile today,
To record in His Word; just what would it say?
While reading in Colossians today, there is one person mentioned that always stands out to me when reading this book…and that person is Epaphras.
“As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;” Colossians 1:7
“Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.” Colossians 4:12,13
Faithful, prayer warrior and zealous is how God’s Word describes this servant of Christ. It is always inspiring as well as convicting to think of this believer who had such an overwhelming burden for the spiritual welfare of others…to the point of laboring fervently in prayer for them! When our prayer life has reached a point of “fervency”, it truly is labor. No doubt, this “dear fellowservant” saw many prayers answered.
“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16
