Bitter – Sweet
FROM BITTER – “And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty:” Ruth 1:20,21
TO SWEET – “And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.” Ruth 4:14,15
Reading the book of Ruth is a wonderful reminder of how the Lord can take bitter experiences and make them sweet!
“And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet…” Exodus 15:23,25
