Waving the White Flag!
Just yesterday, I was telling an individual how thankful I was for the reminders from God’s Word that it’s “ok” to tell our burdens to the Lord as well as trusted believers who we know will fervently pray. Galatians 6:2 tells us to bear one another’s burdens and I thank God for those He has placed in my life to do just that. Too often, we can allow pride to cause us to live a life of isolation…the life of a Lone Ranger, as my husband calls it…and thus prevent us from receiving strength and encouragement. Pride says, “I’m ok” when we are not ok.
After that conversation yesterday, our pastor warned last evening of the dangers of isolation in a storm and how our adversary will try so hard to convince us that we are all alone and no one understands. Then, this morning I read the following words of King David:
“…I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me…” II Samuel 3:39
The new king was facing a battle that he knew he could not fight alone and he was not afraid to admit his weakness as well as leave it in the Lord’s hands when he said:
“…the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.” II Samuel 3:39
Is the storm raging in your life right now? Maybe God is just waiting for you to stop trying to gain the victory on your own and instead wave the white flag of surrender by crying out to Him. Remember, the Lord is our Jehovah-Nissi…the battle is His!
“Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you…” II Chronicles 20:17
