Enjoying The Sprinkles
Just this week, I was encouraged to listen to a certain message via the internet that had been a blessing to someone else. This person shared the thought from the message on how, in the midst of deep valleys, God will send “handfuls of purpose” as Ruth received from Boaz’s servants in Ruth 2:16. You know, those little blessings that so often help get us through the day – maybe an encouraging text or card or even an answer to what we may consider a “small prayer request”. I believe these little blessings are God’s way of reaching out and taking our hand in the darkness. He desires to remind us that He is still here with us – He has not forsaken us – He will see us through. But, if we are not careful, we could miss those “handfuls of purpose”. I guess we could liken it to an overcast day when one family member feels the first sprinkles while the rest of the family is saying, “I didn’t feel anything”. Before we know it, we are all caught in a big downpour. In the same way, if we desire to see God’s hand in every situation in our lives, He will allow us to feel even the little drops of rain. The showers of blessing are coming, but in the meantime, enjoy the sprinkles!
“…I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.” Ezekiel 34:26
