Misplaced Confidence
“Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Proverbs 3:25,26
While sitting and pondering on the above verses earlier today, I spotted this little bird outside our living room window, sweetly perched on our volleyball post.
As I watched this little creature, I was reminded that, just as God sees it sitting on top of its little perch, God is also very aware of each of us – and every circumstance that He allows in our lives. Sometimes, these circumstances may cause “sudden fear” – panic – as we are caught off guard with troubling news. Initial alarm to devastating news is natural, but continued fear is a sign of misplaced confidence. Proverbs 118:8 reminds us – “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” No matter what may come our way, confidence in the Lord is the only way to weather our trials while experiencing peace in our hearts.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3
