The Joy Of Serving!
“What makes the Dead Sea dead? Because it is all the time receiving, never giving out anything. Why is it that many Christians are cold? Because they are all the time receiving, never giving out anything.” ~ D.L. Moody
Reading the above quote this morning reminded me of Christ’s words…
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” John 13:16,17
Jesus had just washed the disciples’ feet and in doing so had demonstrated their need to serve each other. The product of having a servant’s heart is happiness!
Are you a Christian who is struggling with maintaining your joy? We all have times of sadness, but a life without joy should not be descriptive of a Christian. Our Lord gives us one way to have and maintain our joy – serving others!! Remember, just as a wet sponge left sitting will eventually begin to stink, so will a person who is continually receiving and never giving begin to have a sour disposition. Let’s not sit around, soak, and sour! Find ways to serve others – in your family, your church, your community!
A Servant’s Heart
Make me a servant like you, dear Lord.
Living for others each day.
Humble and meek, helping the weak,
Loving in all that I say.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
Here’s my life: take every part.
Give me, Lord, a servant’s heart.
Help me draw so close to you.
That your love comes shining through.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
Make me a witness like you, dear Lord.
Showing the love of the cross.
Sharing Your Word till all have heard,
Serving whatever the cost.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
Here’s my life: take every part.
Give me, Lord, a servant’s heart.
Help me draw so close to you.
That your love comes shining through.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
Give me Lord, a servant’s heart.
