Our Homes – A Place of Rest or Distress?
“Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?” Ruth 3:1
Reading the above verse this morning reminded me of a portion of our pastor’s message last night as he warned of continual drama in the home. Naomi is speaking of finding a husband for Ruth (her daughter-in-law whose husband had died) and she describes this as seeking rest for her. In other words, finding a husband and therefore a home for Ruth would bring her rest.
I have heard it said that our homes should be a little “heaven on earth” for our families. As ladies, are we doing our part to make that happen? Things will not bring us happiness – for ourselves or our homes. But a heart that is in tune with the Lord will bring joy to those around them. Just a little thought this morning…
“Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.” Proverbs 17:1
