Psalm 77 – A Thought From Last Night’s Message
Last evening, Pastor preached from Psalm 77…a favorite of mine – one to which I have turned very often! As he preached on “Praising Your Way Out Of Darkness”, I was reminded again of the importance of looking back on past blessings and victories in order to gain strength for present trials.
One of several points that stood out to me was taken from verse 3:
“…I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed.”
Pastor pointed out how a complaining spirit in the midst of a trial will cause us to feel even more overwhelmed. How very true that is! And, I must admit that, too often, I have been guilty of this very thing.
Proverbs 18:14 says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity…” Choosing to guard our spirit against murmuring and complaining while instead TRUSTING the One who is in control will give us sustaining strength in the darkest valley. When the Lord allows times of suffering in our lives, may we resist complaining and instead cling to the Lord – KNOWING that His way is perfect. He will be faithful to see us through! AMEN!!
