Alone With God
The words at the end of this post are of an old hymn and were in one of my devotionals this morning. I don’t think I have ever heard the song but ahh…what a wonderful thought it portrays. My friend, do you have a special place where you can get alone with God? If not, you are truly missing out on a vital part of the Christian life!
Just recently, I was encouraging a dear sister to have a special place where she can spend time with the Lord. I shared with her just a little more detail about my special spot where I have daily reminders in plain view…
As you can see, this second picture certainly isn’t fancy at all but the papers sure have served as great reminders to me!!
May I encourage you this morning to find your special “alone with God” place where you can go to spend time with the Lord and thus receive strength for the day!

When storms of life are round me beating,
When rough the path that I have trod,
Within my closet door retreating,
I love to be alone with God.
Alone with God, the world forbidden,
Alone with God, O blest retreat!
Alone with God, and in Him hidden,
To hold with Him communion sweet.
What though the clouds have gathered o’er me?
What though I’ve passed beneath the rod?
God’s perfect will there lies before me,
When I am thus alone with God.
’Tis there I find new strength for duty,
As o’er the sands of time I plod;
I see the king in all His beauty,
While resting there alone with God.
And when I see the moment nearing
When I shall sleep beneath the sod,
When time with me is disappearing,
I want to be alone with God.

“And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.” Matthew 14:23
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” Matthew 6:6
