My New Sword!
Recently, we were privileged to have the Pahlman family in our Sunday morning service. Although I had never met this family before, I was excited to hear that they were Bearing Precious Seed missionaries from Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan. The former pastor of Parker Memorial, Br. Don Green, and his wife have been such a blessing to me personally! We have heard Br. Green preach many times at Faith Baptist Camp in Resaca, Georgia, and Mrs. Green is one whom I would consider a mentor in my life…simply because of the different times I have been able to glean from her godly wisdom in the ladies’ prayer room.
Age and health have prevented the Greens from traveling the last couple of years so I was very thankful to be able to talk to Mrs. Pahlman and find out how Br. and Mrs. Green were doing.
After Sunday School, I went back to look at the Pahlman’s book table in our church foyer. I picked up one of the Bibles and as I began looking through it, I noticed that it looked just like the layout of my own Bible – a Cambridge cameo edition. I asked Mr. Pahlman about it and he informed me that it indeed was the exact layout! Folks, I’m telling you…I was BEYOND THRILLED! For years, I had thought that I would never be able to get another Bible like it – I was told Cambridge didn’t print them anymore. As the pages of my old Sword continued to loosen from the binding, I was resigned to the fact that one day I would have to get used to a different (but still King James) Bible. I was not looking forward to it at all!
But, the Lord KNEW my heart’s desire, and that day He allowed me to pick this particular Bible up at the book table, recognize the same layout and yes, purchase a NEW Sword!
I haven’t started using my new Sword yet but this evening, I highlighted my first two verses in it. Can you guess what they are?
This past Wednesday evening, Pastor preached an excellent message titled “Sometimes We Just Need To Be Reminded”. I am very thankful to the Lord for loving me enough to give me reminders along the way.
This evening, I am thankful for my new Sword. It is a reminder to me that God is indeed ABLE to supply my every need and even my specific heart’s desires! What a loving God we serve!
