Hurricane Florence Thoughts – Fallen Trees
This past week, as expected, we had downed trees in our area. The effect of these fallen trees varied. This tree blocked a neighbor’s driveway…
While this tree took the power of many households…
Here are a couple of thoughts on these fallen trees…
First of all, neither of these trees were little saplings – a grim reminder that no matter how old we are in the Lord, we CAN fall.
“The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!” II Samuel 1:19
How very, VERY important to resist a proud heart and stay close to the Lord!
“Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” I Corinthians 10:12
Secondly, as Christians, if we do decide to go our own way and thus rebel against God’s Word…
…when we fall…
…we will affect others. Our level of influence may be small or it may be quite large but in either case, our lives and the choices we make do impact others – for good or for bad. Whether it be our own children, siblings, cousins, nieces & nephews, friends, church family, neighbors, community, co-workers, etc. we are influencing those around us. We cannot escape that fact. Knowing this, how very important to make wise choices with our future as well as the future of others in mind.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” Proverbs 3:5-7
