Things Are Not Always As They Seem
“He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.” Proverbs 18:17
A simple reminder this evening that there are two sides to every story. The above verse speaks of an individual who seems to be in the right…until his neighbor tells his version of the incident. How very important that we take the time to hear both sides before drawing conclusions. Even then, it may be necessary to ask the Lord for discernment while quietly observing. It was Matthew Henry who said,
“The doctrines of human infallibility, implicit faith, and blind obedience, are not the doctrines of the Bible. Every Christian has and ought to have, the judgment of discretion, and should have his senses exercised in discerning between good and evil, truth and falsehood.”
One thing I have learned throughout the years is that, in the end, truth always prevails. When it does, I want to be found on truth’s side.
“It is good, if we must side, to side with those that side with God and have God with them.” ~ Matthew Henry
“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” I Thessalonians 5:21
