Just Follow the Instructions
I always liked the simplicity of this child’s game (the classic version).
1) Pick a card
2) “Read” the card
3) Obey the card’s “instructions”
That pretty much sums up the rules for playing Candy Land. Now, there have been meltdowns through the years when someone picked a card that sent them back close to the start…or an opponent picked the card that allowed them to jump way ahead. In spite of the occasional tears, it’s a great first board game for children!
Although the Christian life is definitely not a child’s game, sometimes I think we make it more difficult than it really is. Could it be because we don’t like the “card” that God has chosen for us that day? Could it be that we would rather have the “card” someone else got?
Tomorrow morning, let’s:
1) Pick up our Bible
2) Read our Bible
3) Obey what we just read
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. ~ John H. Sammis
