Fear Hath Torment
“fear hath torment” 1 John 4:18
Recently, I found myself in a whirlwind of anxious thoughts. This spirit of fear came upon me without warning – a sharp arrow of Satan meant to torment and cripple.
And, for a brief moment he was successful…until the Holy Ghost whispered,
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Being reminded of just where this fear was from, I immediately began crying out to God for victory. As my thoughts turned back to my God Who is in complete control of every circumstance of my life, His sweet peace flooded my soul once again.❤️
This morning, the following thought from one of my devotionals was a timely “amen” to this truth:
“God is with the true, the just, the holy to deliver them, and He will deliver you. Remember how Daniel came out of the lions’ den and the three holy children out of the furnace. Yours is not so desperate a case as theirs; but if it were, the Lord would bear you through, and make you more than a conqueror.
Fear to fear.
Be afraid to be afraid.
Your worst enemy is within your own bosom.
Get to your knees and cry for help; and then rise up, saying, “I will trust and not be afraid.”
~ C. H. Spurgeon
This morning, I am so very thankful for my Heavenly Father Who is true to every promise in His precious Word.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3 KJV
🎶Sometime when misgivings darken the day,
And faith’s light I cannot see;
I ask my dear Lord to brighten the way,
He whispers sweet peace to me.
Refrain:
He whispers sweet peace to me,
He whispers sweet peace to me,
When I am cast down in spirit and soul,
He whispers sweet peace to me.🎶
