Are You On The Battlefield Or MIA? – Pastor Michael Poindexter

(The following article, written by our pastor, has been on my mind this week so I thought I would share it this morning.)

Are You On The Battlefield Or MIA (Missing in Action)?

2 Timothy 2:3,4 – “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

Paul compares the Christian life with that of a soldier. With the recent court rulings and legalization of homosexual marriage, the social media world has blown up with people showing their disagreement – many professing to be Christians. That’s all good, but I hope those same people are doing more than just exercising their freedom of speech. My questions to them would be:

*Are you supporting a local New Testament church?
*Do you attend it faithfully?
*Do you support it with your labor?
*Do you support it financially?

It’s going to take more than slapping a statement on social media to change the direction we are heading as a nation. The reason we are experiencing what we are now is because society knows that most professing Christians are surface level – meaning they will do little to nothing to impact the cause of Christ (other than just give an opinion). Are you a soldier of the cross, or are you missing in action? If you are a born again Christian, the church is where your spiritual family meets for prayer, worship and to execute the plan of God in evangelizing the world. I encourage you today that, if you’re not an active part of a local church, to prayerfully seek to be one ASAP! United we stand as a force to be reckoned with; divided and scattered – we hardly have a voice.

Numbers 32:6 – “And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?”

I know there are many who have been hurt, disappointed, even discouraged with church from time to time. But hey, it’s war! Battle wounds and scars just come with the territory. Just remember that even God’s people have issues and flaws. But the One Who has called you to this great cause, the Captain of the army – our Lord Jesus Christ, does not! I can overlook imperfect and, at times, improper soldiers to labor for such a great cause and a wonderful Commander!
